This little house, built at the end of the 19th century, is not atypical of homes from this era in PG.

  1. this is @watergatesummer ....

History of some of the houses....
The pink house is special- it is where there used to be resident writers that would come to stay for one year......for very low rent...

some of the little cottages actually were summer camps for families from the bay-(there was a religous enclave there-Lovers Point originally was called Jesus Lovers Point) and families would come there in the summer...gather...( where joga and music is the original meeting hall)

and then the little cottages- were built mostly in 1890s- and the Chinese settled down by Lovers Point- there was even a tea house...
they did laundry services down on the waterfront...and also caught fish...

Then the Sanfrancisco Fire and quake happened and many ppl came down to live year round- they arrived as refugees- with nothing- no food, clothies, bedding- and they all took care of each other- as well as the locals opened up their homes and their hearts...

and from then on it became a refuge for many people and many immigrants as well...Fisherman from Italy and Spain and Portugal- and Irish and Scottish working class that lost quarters in SF-
so the melting pot really began and also the arrival of many different foods...and resturantes...

And off and on through the early years there were pretty strict laws about smoking and drinking and other "foolishness".....
and young people would walk down to the Point- and hug and meet for affections...and then ....a few times there were Huge Waves before and after storms...and hence some Lovers were lost to Sea-Swept away...so there are still benches down by the water dedicated to some of those lost loves.....

    Ok...enough for your lesson tonight....

Tomorrow...about some of the Less Pure parts of the History...
