Suicide is something that is often associated with the Golden Gate Bridge (see the remarkable film The Bridge). Surfing is not - although it may be a cry for help, especially in the famously disturbed waters where bay meets ocean. Once in a while, the conditions are right - and where there are surfable waves, there are surfers. I did see a few braves souls out there on this day.
